Un recorte difícil de cuantificar, pero la mayoría de los equipos directivos de los centros lo han calculado en torno al 15%, unos 3.000 profesores en total. Esto significa que <b><u>un instituto medio perderá 10-12 profesores</u></b> de distintas materias. En la FP se invirtieron muchos recursos para darle la dignidad que perdió y que merece. No hay que olvidar que Europa está insistiendo constantemente en la importancia de la FP. Pero estos recortes son un jarro de agua fría sobre un objetivo que poco a poco se va consiguiendo. Tienen, entre muchas otras, las siguientes implicaciones:</span><span style="COLOR:black;"></span> </div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;TEXT-INDENT:35.4pt;"> </div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;"><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;FONT-FAMILY:Symbol;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;">·</span><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:7pt;"> </span><b><u><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;">Eliminación de ciclos</span></u></b><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;"> de FP totalmente necesarios para regenerar el empleo y la tan mencionada productividad. La FP tiene que estar en los barrios y en los pueblos para llegar a todos. Se trata de una formación más local y cercana a las empresas y debe estar dispersa por el territorio.</span><span style="COLOR:black;"></span> </div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;"> </div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;"><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;FONT-FAMILY:Symbol;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;">·</span><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:7pt;"> </span><b><u><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;">Masificación</span></u></b><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;"> de alumnos en las aulas. En un principio, la Consejería había decidido eliminar completamente la hora de tutoría con alumnos (no así en concertados ni privados, por supuesto). Después, ante la protesta del colectivo docente en pleno y las críticas de la opinión pública ante tamaño escándalo, dieron instrucciones de que en esas horas de tutoría los alumnos recibirían apoyo de Lengua, Matemáticas e Inglés. Han intentado enmendar esta chapuza mediante una orden que exige a los tutores realizar tutorías individualizadas con los alumnos, pero esto es algo que ya realizamos todos cuando es necesario, y de ningún modo sustituye a la tutoría grupal.</span><span style="COLOR:black;"></span> </div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;TEXT-INDENT:35.4pt;"><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;"></span><span style="COLOR:black;"></span></div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;TEXT-INDENT:35.4pt;"><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;">El perjuicio de cara a los alumnos es enorme. Lo sabemos los profesores. Sin embargo, hay <b><i><u>muchas</u></i><u> otras tareas</u></b> igualmente importantes que es necesario realizar, y no solo la preparación de las clases sino muchas otras actividades complementarias que están perfectamente estipuladas por la legislación y en los horarios individuales de cada uno de nosotros.</span><span style="COLOR:black;"></span> </div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;TEXT-INDENT:35.45pt;"> </div> <div style="TEXT-ALIGN:justify;LINE-HEIGHT:120%;TEXT-INDENT:35.45pt;"><span style="LINE-HEIGHT:120%;COLOR:black;FONT-SIZE:11pt;">No se dejen engañar. Dadas las fechas, es muy difícil realizar acciones concretas. Una de las opciones que se baraja con más fuerza es la de la <b><u>huelga indefinida</u></b> a partir del 1 de septiembre o a partir del primer día de clase. Estoy seguro de poder decir en nombre de todos que <b><u>sentimos sinceramente</u></b> tener que recurrir a esta situación por los perjuicios que ocasionará pero lo creemos desgraciadamente necesario en el contexto actual. Estamos mirando a medio y largo plazo y luchando por el futuro de la Educación Pública y de nuestros alumnos. Ante esta petición, por favor ignoren la imagen que puedan tener de los pocos profesores y maestros no válidos que puedan haberse encontrado. Tengan por seguro que en la Educación Pública de la Comunidad de Madrid, la enorme mayoría son profesionales implicados que se dejan la piel por los alumnos. Before I list the reasons why I’ve chosen to be a vegetarian let me say that I don’t judge people who choose to eat meat. People make different choices for different reasons, and it is not my place to judge the choices that other people make. Just being alive is inevitably going to cause suffering. But anyway, here’s why I’m a vegetarian.<br /><br />1) I respect animals, and I believe that a vegetarian diet causes less suffering than a diet centered around animal products. i find no pleasure in pain.<br /><br />2) Animals are sentient creatures with their own wills and feelings, and it seems wrong to force our will onto another creature just because we’re able to.<br /><br />3) A great deal of medical evidence points to the fact that a diet centered around animal products is terrible for you. Animal product based diets have been repeatedly proven to cause and exacerbate cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc.<br /><br />4) A vegetarian diet is materially more efficient than an animal product based diet. By that I mean that you can feed lots more people with grain directly than by feeding that grain to a cow and then killing the cow. In a world where people are starving it seems criminal to fatten up cows with grain that could be keeping people alive.<br /><br />5) The raising of farm animals is environmentally disastrous. All of the waste from animal farming gets washed into our water supply, poisoning our drinking water and fouling our lakes, streams, and oceans.<br /><br />6) Vegetarian food is nice to look at. Compare a plate with grains and fruits and vegetables to a plate with pigs’ intestines, chicken legs, and chopped up cows’ muscles.<br /><br />So that’s pretty much why I’m a vegetarian. If for some reason you ever decide to become a vegetarian or a vegan, please do so carefully. Most of our conventional diets are so meat and animal product based that when we give up meat we don’t know what to replace it with.<br /><br />Although a vegetarian or vegan diet is a million times healthier than a carnivorous diet, making the transition away from eating animals needs to be done wisely. In 1998, his return to Spain after a 24-year absence was greeted with extensive coverage in the media, not just in the medical trade press, but in the mainstream newspapers and magazines as well. His return, he said at the time, was not due to a sudden bout of homesickness but came after receiving an "offer no researcher could refuse".<br />The Spanish Minister of Public Health gave Barbacid the chance of heading a no-expense-spared national cancer research facility, the "Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas Carlos III" (CNIO). With 100,000 square feet of lab space the center, the first of its kind in Spain, occupies an old disused hospital in Madrid, restored and converted at a cost of some $25 million and due to open in 2001. Meanwhile, his team's initial work was being carried out in borrowed lab space, with a grant from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer. <br /><br />It is a personal triumph for Barbacid, co-discoverer of the human oncogene, who had criticized the lack of funding for cancer research. In modern Spain "this is one of the last remaining challenges", he has said. Half the center's annual budget of $30 million is paid out of Spain's National Health System and the other half from research grants.<br /><br />Mariano Barbacid was born in Madrid in 1949. At age 25, shortly after receiving his doctorate in Science and with work offers from six American research centers, he moved to the United States. Between 1974 and 1988 Barbacid worked for the US National Cancer Institute in Maryland, first as a basic scientist investigating molecular and genetic oncology, and later carrying translational research into early diagnosis of cancer. Western Andalusia and the Algarve are warmed by the Gulf Stream, and in summer south winds from the Sahara can be suffocating. Portugal's west coast and Galicia, though also bathed by the Gulf Stream, face the Atlantic and can be cold and rainy. The Cantabrian regions of Spain (Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country) have a temperate climate with a great deal of rainfall. The Levante (Castellon, Valencia and Alicante) often suffers from tremendous rainstorms, usually in autumn, which can cause a great deal of material damage. In the Pyrenees, too, flash floods can be a hazard. These tribes, the Angles, the Saxons and the Jutes, crossed the North Sea from what today is Denmark and northern Germany. At that time the inhabitants of Britain spoke a Celtic language. But most of the Celtic speakers were pushed west and north by the invaders - mainly into what is now Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The Angles came from Englaland and their language was called Englisc - from which the words England and English are derived.<br /> <br />Old English (450-1100 AD)<br />The invading Germanic tribes spoke similar languages, which in Britain developed into what we now call Old English. Old English did not sound or look like English today. Native English speakers now would have great difficulty understanding Old English. Nevertheless, about half of the most commonly used words in Modern English have Old English roots. The words be, strong and water, for example, derive from Old English. Old English was spoken until around 1100.<br /><br />Middle English (1100-1500)<br />In 1066 William the Conqueror, the Duke of Normandy (part of modern France), invaded and conquered England. The new conquerors (called the Normans) brought with them a kind of French, which became the language of the Royal Court, and the ruling and business classes. For a period there was a kind of linguistic class division, where the lower classes spoke English and the upper classes spoke French. In the 14th century English became dominant in Britain again, but with many French words added. This language is called Middle English. It was the language of the great poet Chaucer (c1340-1400), but it would still be difficult for native English speakers to understand today.<br /><br />Early Modern English (1500-1800)<br />Towards the end of Middle English, a sudden and distinct change in pronunciation (the Great Vowel Shift) started, with vowels being pronounced shorter and shorter. From the 16th century the British had contact with many peoples from around the world. This, and the Renaissance of Classical learning, meant that many new words and phrases entered the language. The invention of printing also meant that there was now a common language in print. Books became cheaper and more people learned to read. Printing also brought standardization to English. Spelling and grammar became fixed, and the dialect of London, where most publishing houses were, became the standard. In 1604 the first English dictionary was published.<br /><br />Late Modern English (1800-Present)<br />The main difference between Early Modern English and Late Modern English is vocabulary. Late Modern English has many more words, arising from two principal factors: firstly, the Industrial Revolution and technology created a need for new words; secondly, the British Empire at its height covered one quarter of the earth's surface, and the English language adopted foreign words from many countries.<br />Varieties of English<br />From around 1600, the English colonization of North America resulted in the creation of a distinct American variety of English. Some English pronunciations and words "froze" when they reached America. In some ways, American English is more like the English of Shakespeare than modern British English is. Some expressions that the British call "Americanisms" are in fact original British expressions that were preserved in the colonies while lost for a time in Britain (for example trash for rubbish, loan as a verb instead of lend, and fall for autumn; another example, frame-up, was re-imported into Britain through Hollywood gangster movies). Spanish also had an influence on American English (and subsequently British English), with words like canyon, ranch, stampede and vigilante being examples of Spanish words that entered English through the settlement of the American West. French words (through Louisiana) and West African words (through the slave trade) also influenced American English (and so, to an extent, British English).<br />Today, American English is particularly influential, due to the USA's dominance of cinema, television, popular music, trade and technology (including the Internet). Often they are the only feasible way to reach a number of reviewers large enough to allow statistically analysis of the results. A well-designed questionnaire that is used effectively can gather information on both the overall performance of the test system as well as information on specific components of the system. If the questionnaire includes demographic questions on the participants, they can be used to correlate performance and satisfaction with the test system among different groups of users. <br /><br />It is important to remember that a questionnaire should be viewed as a multi-stage process beginning with definition of the aspects to be examined and ending with interpretation of the results. Every step needs to be designed carefully because the final results are only as good as the weakest link in the questionnaire process. Pictures will be seen everywhere of the old man with long white beard, red coat, and bag of toys. Children are taught that he brings them presents the night before Christmas (or in some countries on December 6th - St. Nicholas' Day), and many children up to the age of 7 or 8 really believe this is true. In most countries, it is said that he lives near the North Pole, and arrives through the sky on a sledge (snow-cart) pulled by reindeer. He comes into houses down the chimney at midnight and places presents for the children in socks or bags by their beds or in front of the family Christmas tree.<br /><br /><strong>Who was he? </strong><br /><br />Father Christmas is based on a real person, St. Nicholas, which explains his other name 'Santa Claus' which comes from the Dutch 'Sinterklaas'. Nicholas was a Christian leader from Myra (in modern-day Turkey) in the 4th century AD. He was very shy, and wanted to give money to poor people without them knowing about it. It is said that one day, he climbed the roof of a house and dropped a purse of money down the chimney. It landed in the stocking which a girl had put to dry by the fire! This may explain the belief that Father Christmas comes down the chimney and places gifts in children's stockings.<br /> <br /><strong>Boxing Day </strong><br /><br />In English-speaking countries, the day following Christmas Day is called 'Boxing Day'. This word comes from the custom which started in the Middle Ages around 800 years ago: churches would open their 'alms boxe' (boxes in which people had placed gifts of money) and distribute the contents to poor people in the neighbourhood on the day after Christmas.
